Travel For One

Dating yourself can be one of the most important things a young woman can do. I have found it to be enlightening and simple. Thinking about it, I’ve had countless special moments alone and I imagine taking a vacation solo would be full of them as well. I have traveled unaccompanied but never vacationed alone. I can only envision how laid back and eye opening it would be. Based on my vacation experiences, some moments have made me consider solo vacations more and more.

The Travel

I have taken many flights alone but always to visit people, and let me tell you it was great. I didn’t have to match traveling days with anyone and dealing with the back and forth; just to set a date is a clear indication of what to expect during your trip. Traveling in itself can get stressful, but when you have to deal with your friends’ anxiety and cope with your own, it becomes overwhelming. Alone, a lot less will bother you, you can go at your own pace and really enjoy your excitement.

What do you want to do?

How long does it take you to decide what you want to do? Now add that to the time it takes you and your friends to come to a decision! For me, this is one of the most appealing parts of traveling alone. Imagine cutting out all the bickering and refusal to compromise, and the silent treatment when someone gets upset. This all equals up to more time to enjoy and do the things you really want to do. There is no one to blame, to slow you down or rush you. You don’t have to sit and wait until everyone is ready. It will be your show.

The simplicity

I always try to take a moment for myself when away. To take in the environment, and cancel out the noise. When I remove myself from the comments, complaints, suggestions and opinions, I can really listen to my own thoughts and absorb the scenery. If those stolen moments can be my whole vacation, that would be better. A solo trip, can be a time for you to be truly selfish, it’s unfortunate people never really get the chance to only have themselves to consider for very long. The thought of going somewhere and just being, I hope encourages you to consider taking time for yourself.

My plan is to start off small with a mini stay-cation alone to test it out then possibly a longer trip. Let me know how you feel about solo vacations, have you tried it or would you try it?

Happy and Safe Travels,
